Breast augmentation (also known as augmentation mammoplasty) has evolved a great deal over the past several decades. Innovations in breast implant technology, like shaped implants, textured implants, and “gummy bear” implants, allow plastic surgeons to customize the procedure to each patient’s individual body type while maintaining an extremely low risk of post-surgical complications. In some cases, new surgical techniques have even made it possible to increase breast size without using a breast implant through fat transfer. Ultimately, my approach to breast augmentation always relies on communication. By working closely with the patient, really listening to their aesthetic goals, and explaining to them as clearly as possible what outcomes are realistic, I can help them achieve the look that they desire safely and with the quickest possible recovery time.
